Your examination usually takes approximately 15 minutes. Your clinician will check your mouth for various signs of oral health problems, including cavities, gum disease, and signs of oral cancer. They also evaluate the health of teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues, and may take X-rays or other diagnostic procedures.
They may use small mirrors, to look at difficult to see areas, probes (a metal tool), and air to get a closer look and check for issues like cavities or gum recession.

If your clinician does find any issues such as cavities or gum disease, they will discuss treatment options with you; and schedule any follow up appointments.
