Dental hygienists are specially trained to work as part of the dental team looking after your oral health. They are mainly concerned with preventative dental health and treating gum disease. This includes professionally cleaning your teeth removing plaque and calculus. Their most important role is advising you on how you can keep your teeth free of plaque.
AIRFLOW AND ULTRASONIC SCALING
In dentistry, Airflow and ultrasonic scaling are both used for cleaning teeth, but they differ in their approach and effectiveness. Airflow uses a gentle, powder-based system which is highly effective at removing stains and plaque, making it well suited for sensitive teeth; Ultrasonic scaling uses vibrations to break down tartar, which can cause irritation on your gums and gum disease. Appointments for either treatments will last 30 minutes.
We can offer prolonged treatment which may be over several visits. We can also offer local anaesthetic if necessary – please mention it to your dentist.
